From the Foster:
HELLO! You have stumbled across the cutest dog in the universe, but it is important that you READ ALL OF HIS BIO before you consider applying!!
Timmy came to us recently, surrendered by a commercial breeder. All he has known in his 8 years is a cage, and other dogs. This makes him very unsure of humans. While he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body, he still is scared of people, and will likely always be more on the shy side, possibly to the extreme.
Timmy runs around, gets excited, takes treats nicely, and loves being outside. He doesn't hide or act scared when he's loose in the house However, he is still terrified of being touched and held by people. He will try to run, and eventually he will just freeze so you can pick him up. His potential adopters need to understand that he will take time and dedication to warm up. He will likely need to be on a leash for several weeks before you can just bend over and touch him or pick him up without him trying to scootch away.
Timmy is NOT potty trained, and while he DOES go outside, he wants to mark on everything (he is JUST getting neutered, so that might get better, but he will likely have to wear a belly band for life.
Timmy has a LOT of hair. He is just 4.5 pounds, but with a hair mountain. He is very good for being brushed and washed, I run a slicker brush through him quick once a day to remove dead hair and keep the shedding to a minimum. He pretty much has no teeth anymore, they all rotted out before he got into rescue.
Timmy will do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes, and be confident with humans. He will also need a fenced yard with no escape holes to squeeze through.
He really is a little character, and has a very sweet disposition, but again, it is my job to make sure people understand that he might not ever be the dog that wants to cuddle on your lap.
If you think you are up to loving him even though he will be a challenge, please apply and come meet him!
